How to Create a Guide to the Neighbourhood

Whether you are selling your Markham home or you want to do more research on your neighbourhood for new residents, creating a guide to the neighbourhood is an amazing idea. This guide will provide information to the prospective buyers and let them know how great where you live really is. You could use it as a sort of marketing tool to impress buyers, without selling them. Here’s what you need.

1.       Compile a list of all of the best places in your ‘hood

This list should include restaurants, shops, tourist attractions, parks, waterways, paths and more. You shouldn’t include every restaurant and shop in your neighbourhood, just the ones that will really sway your buyers away from other locations. For example, many home buyers in Markham may wonder what makes it better than Toronto and could point out all of the great golf courses or the amazing theatre we have.

2.       Go out and snap some photos

If you live in a gorgeous location, especially with hidden gems, go out and get some photos that truly tell potential buyers the story of your city/town/neighbourhood. Even if you aren’t a professional photographer, an iPhone can take some great pictures to show your buyers and the location will speak for itself. Unionville’s Main Street is a historic area with interesting shops and restaurants, which could make for great photos.

3.       Make a list of useful places

Moving to a new city can be daunting, but if you’ve already prepared a list of some common spots that any homebuyer might need to go, your buyer might feel at peace. These could include:

·         Grocery stores

·         Home improvement stores

·         Hospitals

·         Dental offices

·         Veterinarians

·         Schools

You could also make a list of emergency numbers for your city and other essential services (garbage, plumbing, electricians). While this list may be a lot of work for you to do, any home buyer will be extremely grateful of the time you took to make them feel comfortable. What could this mean for you? Getting your home sold at asking price! You don’t have to tell them you got it from my site 😉

4.       Make a list of the best events

Many homebuyers want to see that the city they live in is lively and has fun events year-round. Fortunately for any Markham resident, they aren’t going to be disappointed. Make a list of your favourite events during the year, so they can try them out too.

Your guide to the neighbourhood could include other features for which you find useful, like a nice neighbour’s phone number, referrals for doctors or other professionals that are hard to find and a page of links that you think the new homebuyer could use.
