Flooring Options You Should Consider for Your Home

November 5, 2018 By Martin MacFarlane Leave a Comment

The floor is one feature of your home that you should carefully consider. Whether you need to update the flooring to make your house more attractive to potential buyers or you are considering a few home-improvement projects, the flooring should be at the top of your list. However, choosing the right type of flooring is essential. You not only want a product that looks good, but that will last a long time and won’t break your budget. Here are a few flooring options that you should consider for your Markham home.

Hardwood

Hardwood flooring provides a classic and timeless design for any home. If you have plans to sell your home in the near future, hardwood is ideal as this goes with many styles and trends and it offers a look that many buyers desire. This type of material is also durable and lasts a long time. It is great for high-trafficked areas such as kitchens and hallways.

Laminate

If you want a durable and more budget-friendly flooring option, laminate should be at the top of your list. This flooring is extremely durable and very simple to clean. Its maintenance is minimal and it can handle much wear and tear — which is ideal if you have young children or indoor pets. You can also find this type of flooring in a variety of looks and styles and it can look like other more expensive options such as hardwood or tiles.

Tile

Tile flooring is aesthetically-appealing and comes in a number of colors, styles, and designs. It is also extremely durable, as long as it is properly taken care of. Tile flooring requires more maintenance than other options because the grout must remain in tip-top condition. Tile looks great in entryways, bathrooms, kitchens, etc.

Linoleum

If you are looking for a budget-friendly option, consider linoleum. This type of flooring comes in a variety of colors and designs, helping you find something to stand out in any area of your home. It is also easy to clean and handles spills and messes with ease. However, over time this material will begin to look old and can discolor, particularly if it is in direct sunlight. It can also dent easily if heavy objects fall on it.

Carpet

Carpet is perfect for those areas in your home where you want to just relax and be comfortable such as living rooms and bedrooms. As with other styles of flooring, carpet comes in a variety of fabrics, cuts, and colors, helping you find something specific to your own home and lifestyle. Keep in mind that carpet does require more maintenance than other materials and it does not handle moisture and spills well.

flooring options for Markham homeThe flooring in your home covers a wide area and can drastically change the entire look of your home. Before you install any options do your research and ask professionals for their assistance.
